Used to get this and all the fanzines every game I went to home or away. Was great pre internet but pretty pointless once we had forums such as this.

Ended giving all mine away to Clak off of here recently.

used to get this OTT and FAH back from late 80's

still got OLAS prob up till late 90's when the net made it kinda redundant

Has done very very well to still be going at all IMO

Used to buy it and even wrote for it a few times.

27 years is a great effort.

Re: OLAS to close after 27 years
FAH was, back then, a shining light when everything about football was shaded. Fanzines like that lead to television and radio picking up on the fans' view of football and - like it or not - the mixed media we have today. Soccer AM would never have happened without the original late 80s fanzines from West Ham and elsewhere.

I remember having the Bonzo's Dog Doo-Dah band cartoon from FAH stuck to the inside of my locker at school. Martin Allen on drums as I remember (and drawn and written by Phill Jupitus in his guise of Pork the Poet).

After buying a lot of OLAS over the years I became old enough to realise it was the same opinions being preached over and over again which in the age of the web forum was fast becoming an anachronism.

I've spoken to GF once. I asked if he knew of anyone selling a ticket for the game that day. He said "no" without even looking at me. I listened to the Radio Four bit and disliked him for that, but other people say he was a nice bloke so I'm not going to write him off as a character in the West Ham drama.

Huffers... all depends... we all have different out looks regarding Football... GF is in the old grizzly blokes category... I can't fully understand his feeling

Last I thought about OLAS was when Gary had his van stolen or something?

Re: OLAS to close after 27 years
Was it OLAS or FAH that gave out all the red cards for the bond scheme??

B-Dog.... yeah I saw that... he's not the only one though is he... anyway need those extra seats for the new breed Prem fans...

I'm not saying there isn't other things to do, but to do every game...then none. That'd be very very hard.

I suppose you can do both. Watch west ham bs other things, that is?

Other things to do in life than watch west ham all the time.

Re: OLAS to close after 27 years
Must be so hard to go to all those games then just stop.

I couldn't imagine missing a home game, been that way since 2002 for me.

Yes, it was a protest against the board during the Bond Season.
Bit shit compared to the glossy programs

Did you hear that feature on R4 a while back, Sold0? He was on that as well, PD alluded to it earlier. I thought it was quite sad listening to him talking about how the move was the end of his days going to football.

Haven't bought it since I started posting on here some 12 years ago, used to buy it all the time before that. Surprised he's gone on this long in the internet age to be honest, I'll buy one at the Swansea game just for old time's sake.

Re: OLAS to close after 27 years
The highlight of my teenage years was getting a photo I'd sent in published in OLAS years ago. It was of the then demolished east stand at White Hart Lane with CUT DOWN BY WEST HAM sprayed across it.
Always found Gary F a decent enough fella, always willing to point you in the right direction if you were on the scout for a ticket outside an away end.
As for Marc from OTT I used to see him in Sainsburys in East Ham shopping not to long ago, still in his black leather jacket! So might still be local.
